Whirlpool Gas Range No Longer Lighting

Reference Models: WFG374LVS1

Problem: Gas range was overheating by 200+ degrees, oven sensor was replaced and resolved the issue. Months later, the control board would no longer register the temperature and operated erratically. A new sensor and board were installed, which caused the bake and broil ignitors to no longer light. Ignitor wiring has been checked and is ok. The cooktop burners are not affected by this issue.

Diagnosis:

If the bake and broil ignitors will not spark you may want to check the following:

  • Make sure neither the bake or the broiler ignitors are shorted to ground
  • When you put the oven into bake, you should have 120vac at J1-6 of the DSI board
  • When you put the oven into broil, you should have 120vac at J1-7 of the DSI board
  • If you have those voltages and the ignitors are not shorted to ground, it's likely you have a faulty DSI board
  • If you don't have those voltages, then the oven control board is the likely culprit
