Samsung Smart Care dryer error codes:

These error code explanations can help when troubleshooting a problem with your Samsung Smart Care gas or electric dryer.

Code Meaning Possible Cause Possible Parts
tE Defective thermistor (temperature sensor) Clean the lint filter because a clogged lint filter can cause this code. Check the exhaust vent system for a clog or restriction and clean system if blocked. If the lint filter and exhaust vent system are clear, unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the thermistor and the electronic control board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire connections are okay, measure the thermistor resistance using a multimeter. You should measure around 10,000 ohms of resistance at room temperature. Replace the thermistor if resistance is off. If thermistor resistance is okay and the wire harness is intact, replace the electronic control board Thermistor, wire harness, electronic control board
dE or dF Door switch failure If you're attempting to start the dryer with the door open, close the door. If the door is closed when the code appears, unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the door switch and the electronic control board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire harness is okay, replace the door switch Door switch, wire harness
bE2 Stuck button on the control panel Press all the buttons on the control panel to free the stuck button. If the stuck button can't be freed, replace the user interface control User interface control
FE Power supply frequency is out of range Have an electrician or your electrical power supplier check the frequency of your electrical power supply. If the dryer is getting the 60 Hz power it requires, replace the electronic control board Electronic control board
9E1 Electronic control board error (over voltage) Unplug the dryer for 5 minutes to reset the control board. If the code returns after you restore power to the dryer, check the voltage supply. If the voltage supply is between 105 and 130 VAC, replace the electronic control board Electronic control board
AE Electronic control board error (communication problem) Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections on the electronic control board. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire connections are okay, replace the electronic control board Electronic control board
EEE Control board failure Unplug the dryer for 5 minutes to reset the control board. If the code returns after you restore power to the dryer, replace the electronic control board Electronic control board
HE Heating error (gas and electric dryers) For gas dryers, make sure the gas supply cut-off valve for the dryer is fully open. If it's an electric dryer, see if a house circuit breaker for the dryer is tripped; the dryer won't heat if a leg of the 240-volt power supply is off. Unplug the dryer and check the wire harness connections between the electronic control board and the heater. Reconnect any loose wires or replace the wire harness if damaged. For an electric dryer, check the heating element for damage and replace if broken. For a gas dryer, have a technician check and repair the heating system Wire harness, heating element
